When you need to add, copy, replace, or delete files from your website, use the File Manager. When you need to recover deleted pages or modules, use the Recycle Bin. Both of these administrative features are covered in this document.
File Manager

We've illustrated the screen capture and lettered each of the following major areas of the File Manager:

- If a folder is accompanied by a + indicator, you can click that folder to see subfolders.
- Click any folder to view the files in that folder (they will be listed in the File Window).
- File Window displays the files contained in the selected folder.

- Click any filename to download/view that file.
- Click the Rename button (the small document icon with the pencil) to rename the file.
- Click the Delete button (the small document icon with the red x) to delete the file.
- To select files to use with the Copy Files, Move Files, or Delete Files commands, click the checkboxes to the right of each file.
- To select all the files, click the dark gray checkbox at the top of the checkbox column.
- File Navigation Area displays how many pages of files your folder contains and provides navigation buttons.
- Note the number of pages in your file list—you may need to advance one or more pages to find your file.
- Use the navigation buttons to, from left to right, navigate to the first page, the previous page, the next page, or the last page.
- Folder Information Area displays important site information:
- The address of the folder you're viewing is shown first.
- The amount of file space your site is using, as well as how much space you have remaining. (In the illustration, the space available is shown as unlimited.)
- How many files are displayed per page in the File Window. You can change this value to show more or fewer files per page.
Uploading Files
When you click the Upload Files button, you are taken to page containing the tools shown below.

Use this tool to add files to your site. Begin by clicking the Browse button and choosing a file on your computer to upload. Once your file is chosen, note the destination folder in the dropdown below. Try to be tidy about where you put your files so you can find them easier later (so, change this folder, if necessary). When you're ready click the Upload File button to add the file to your site.
You may upload a variety of file types, specifically those listed here (the listing is of the allowed filename extensions, which determine the file type):
- doc, docx—Microsoft Word documents
- xls, xlsx—Microsoft Excel documents
- ppt, pptx—Microsoft PowerPoint documents
- swf—Shockwave/Flash files
- jpg, jpeg, jpe—JPEG image files, often photographs
- gif—GIF image files, often site graphics/buttons/etc.
- bmp—Windows BMP (bitmap) image files. Not generally used on the Web.
- pdf—Adobe Acrobat documents
- txt—Plain text files
- xml, xsl—XML data and formatting files
- css—Style sheet files
- template—Site template files
- ico—Windows icon files, often uploaded as "favicon.ico" (used as the site's Favorite/Bookmark icon)
- avi, wmv, flv—Various video file formats
- js—Javascript files
- zip—Compressed files
To upload multiple files at once, first zip them together and choose your zip file to upload. Check the Decompress ZIP files box to let the site decompress the zip file and put its contents into your site.
Folder Security
Below the main File Manager console is a Folder Security Settings Panel.

Begin by choosing a folder in the Folder Window; the permissions granted to the folder are displayed by default. Most folders will have the security settings you see in the illustration above. Note that Administrators have the right to both View and Write to the folder (and this cannot be changed). In addition, All Users have the right to View the folder contents. Lets begin by defining the user groups:
- Administrators have all rights to every file and folder. To be an administrator, a user must sign in with an Administrative account (this is you, presumably).
- All Users are every site visitor that happens to come across your site. These users don't sign in, they often just look around.
- Bloggers (if shown) are user accounts that have been added to the Bloggers group. This option is only available if your site uses the Blog module.
- Registered Users sign into the site with an account that does not have administrative privileges. This option is for sites with public or private user accounts.
- Subscribers have Registered and been added to this group automatically (usually used to send newsletters). The user may later opt out of this role.
- Unauthenticated Users are specifially users of the site that have not signed in (once signed in, they become one of the previously listed user types).
The list may vary in your site depending on the roles defined for it. Lets now look at the two type of permissions each group can be granted:
- View Folder lets these users see the contents of a folder, but not change or delete the contents.
- Write to Folder lets these users add, update, and delete files within a folder. Do not assign this permission to Unauthenticated Users.
Lastly, you may add specific users to the list and grant them individual permissions.
Recycle Bin
The Recycle Bin is the place to go when you've accidentally deleted a page or module and want it back. To access the Recycle Bin, go to the Admin menu and choose Recycle Bin. The following page appears:

To restore a page, scroll through the Pages list and choose the page you would like to recover. Then, click the Recover button to the right (it's the gray button with the circular arrow). You may also permanently delete the page by click the Delete button (the red x).
To restore a module, scroll the Modules list and choose the module you would like to recover. Then, below, choose the page, using the "Restore To Page" dropdown, onto which you would like to restore the module. Lastly, click the Recover button. To permanently delete a module, select the module and click the Delete button.
To empty the Recycle Bin, click the Empty Recycle Bin link just below the Restore To Page dropdown. This will permantently delete all of the pages and modules in the Recycle Bin, so take care using this feature since it cannot be undone.
